Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety Campaign

The Plan

How will we move forward?

Creating Hope
One Night at a Time

In 2016, a board-led task force examined the growing needs of Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety (formerly Children’s Inn). It determined that more space was needed. Since then, the need has grown even more.

The expanded Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety is based on a new, 48,000 square foot facility. Plans include enhanced dining facilities, larger family rooms, increased indoor and outdoor play space, additional space for case management and support services, and a total of 96 beds in 38 bedrooms.

A generous contribution of $11 million from philanthropist T. Denny Sanford is the lead gift, with an additional $5 million to help with the first five years of operating expenses.

In order to operate the new facility, it is critical that we raise the necessary endowment to fund the projected increased operating expenses. This will ensure the long-term sustainability of Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety and fulfill our commitment to serving every individual who needs us.

“Before Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety, we had kids sleeping at the police station. Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety filled a need that gave kids and families the safety they needed. As law enforcement, we depend on Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety.”
