We’re Ready When You Need Help
Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety helps victims of domestic violence, stalking, elder abuse, sexual assault, child abuse and child neglect by providing:
- Emergency shelter
- Crisis intervention
- Counseling and support groups
- Outreach and Advocacy
- Prevention and Education
We serve victims of abuse primarily from the South Dakota counties of Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook, Turner and Union. All services are free and confidential.

Emergency Shelter
Our secure, 38-bedroom, 108-bed facility offers emergency shelter, along with case management, personal care items, meals, transportation, and parenting support.
Nearly one in two women and two in five men have experienced or will experience some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.

Crisis Intervention
Victims of abuse can reach us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through our crisis hotline or by stopping in. Caring, trained professionals are ready to help with support, safety planning, protection orders and community resources information.
If you are a friend or family member of a victim of domestic violence, you may also call to receive information about domestic violence or child abuse and neglect and learn how you can help.
All calls and crisis services are confidential. Referrals may also be made to other community agencies whose services may be helpful for your situation.
