CHILDREN’S HOME
CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER
Forensic Interviews
At Children’s Home CAC, the child shares their experience of sexual abuse or witnessing violence with a trained interviewer who asks questions in a trauma-informed manner.
Then, a team that includes medical professionals, law enforcement, community mental health, prosecution, Child Protection Services (CPS), victim advocacy and other professionals working together for a coordinated response.
We provide a safe place for children to share their experience in their own words, and to begin the healing process.
Referrals
- CAC accepts referrals only from law enforcement, CPS and prosecution.
- Direct referrals from a parent are not accepted. Parents must first report the event(s) to law enforcement or CPS in the jurisdiction area where the alleged abuse occurred. If appropriate, a referral will then be made to CAC.
- Release of information signed by legal parents, guardians, or caregivers.
- Forensic interviews may begin with children who are 3 years old. Abuse-specific medical examinations may be completed from birth onward.
