Keeping Kids Safe is a training curriculum designed by Children's Home Society, based upon lessons learned throughout a century of work with children and families, combined with knowledgeable expert partnerships and scientific evidence. The following training options each highlight a specific focus and can be customized to specific audiences.

1. Keeping Kids Safe:

Recognize & Respond

This training option is intended to help parents, professionals, and community members learn more about what they can do to help keep children safe while teaching practical strategies they can use in their own lives. Training will focus on:

  • Recognizing Signs of Abuse
  • Prevention Strategies
  • Healthy Boundaries
  • How to Respond to Inappropriate Behaviors
  • How to Respond to Disclosures

Audience: Community Members, Professionals, and Parents

Trainer: Presented by a CHS Prevention Education Specialist.

2. Keeping Kids Safe:

The World of Social Media

This training option is intended to help parents, professionals, and community members learn how to mentor and empower children in the digital age. Training will focus on:

  • Recognizing Signs of Abuse
  • Prevention Strategies
  • Healthy Boundaries
  • How to Respond to Inappropriate Behaviors
  • How to Respond to Disclosures

Audience: Community Members, Professionals, and Parents

Trainer: Presented by a CHS Prevention Education Specialist.
Co-Presented with Internet Crimes Against Children staff member.

This training option is intended to help parents, professionals, and community members learn how to most effectively utilize CHS' What If...? Card Sets with the children in their lives. What If...? Card questions focus on topics including:

  • Peer Pressure
  • Morals
  • Abuse, and more!

Keeping My Family Safe

This training option is designed specifically for parents or guardians who are interested in learning more about applying Keeping Kids Safe strategies to their family unit. Training will focus on:

  • Boundaries
  • Self-Care - Trauma Impact

Audience: Community Members and Parents

Child Sexual Abuse

This training option is designed for parents, professionals, and community members to help understand the signs of child sexual abuse and steps that can be taken to help prevent it. Training will focus on:
