Volunteer at Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety
Each year Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety (formerly Children’s Inn) serves thousands of women, children, and families through our emergency shelter, crisis intervention services, and outreach programs. We can’t do it alone. As a volunteer, you can help families directly with client interaction or indirectly through administrative support or assisting at a fundraising event.
To ensure the safety and well being of the individuals in our care, all volunteers who spend direct contact with our clients must be at least 21 years old, complete an application process which includes fingerprinting and background checks, and complete various levels of training.

Boutique Associate
Boutique Associates sort clothing and general items for the in-house boutique.
Boutique Associates commit to one 2-hour shift per week to keep the boutique stocked and assist clients.
Hours available are:
Monday–Friday: 6 pm–8 pm
Saturday: 12:30–2:30 pm.
Boutique Associates must be processed through central registry, fingerprinted, pass a drug screen test and provide three references. Flu vaccination documentation or exemption required.
Child Advocate
Child advocates provide companionship, comfort, and care to children staying in shelter. Child advocates are needed in the evening, from 5:30-7:30pm to assist with mealtime, activities, and preparing for bedtime.
Child Advocate volunteers commit to one 2-hour shift per week.
