Components of Trauma-Informed Care

There is an increasing focus on the impact of trauma and adversity in childhood and how service systems and organizations may either help or exacerbate trauma-related issues. Many agencies and systems are beginning to revisit how they conduct their business or offer services under the framework of a trauma-informed, healing-centered approach.

When we offer education on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma awareness, we are inevitably asked, “what next? What do we do about it?” This training will help answer those questions and guide organizations as they consider implementation of trauma-informed principles. Attendance at Understanding ACEs training is beneficial, but not a requirement.

The series includes an overview of Children’s Home Society’s Community Based Services, including Family Engagement Services, Therapeutic Foster Care, Post Adoption Services and Outpatient Therapy Services, along with the TCOM tool used for assessments. Another topic covered is emotional intelligence, which plays a role in all aspects of our lives, from personal to professional. You will learn the difference between IQ and EI and how to increase emotional intelligence through self-awareness, social awareness and resilience.
