Children’s Home Society (CHS) is creating opportunities for children and families to heal, learn and grow at its new Rapid City Campus. The Life Skills and Family Engagement rooms will give children experiences to practice everyday skills through hands-on activities, build independence and spend time with family in supportive spaces designed to strengthen relationships and support reunification.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided a humanitarian grant to support the development of both spaces. CHS will recognize that partnership during a ribbon-cutting event on September 28, giving community members an opportunity to tour the new rooms and learn more about how they will support children and families.
“We’re grateful for the people and organizations who help us turn good ideas into places where children and families can heal and grow,” said Michelle Lavallee, President and CEO of CHS. “The support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helped us create spaces that are purposeful, welcoming and built around the needs of the children and families we serve. These rooms will give children opportunities to build confidence and independence while giving families space to strengthen the relationships that matter most.”
