Holiday magic is happening at the Empire Mall! For more than 26 years, volunteers are spreading cheer by wrapping gifts for people in the community, all while raising funds at the annual Gift Wrap Booth, benefiting Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety (CHSFS).
People bring their unwrapped gifts to the booth and while they continue to shop–or take a break at the food court–volunteers wrap their gifts. When the person returns, their gifts are beautifully wrapped and ready to be placed under their tree. The donations collected help provide victims of domestic violence safe shelter and services.
“Only a few days into December and the Gift Wrap Booth has already been incredible,” said Ashley Neeley, Assistant Director of Development and Events. “So many amazing people from the Sioux Empire community have signed up to donate their time. Our volunteers are truly the heart of this event—none of this would be possible without them. The donations we receive from the booth help keep our services free for guests who rely on us.”
Next to the Gift Wrap Booth, shoppers will also find the CHSFS Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive, sponsored by Results Townsquare Media. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off in Santa’s sleigh, located beside the booth.
“Our Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive is off to a terrific start as well,” said Neeley. “We had a sleigh full of toys before the Gift Wrap Booth even opened on Black Friday. It was truly a sweet surprise and a great start to this year's event!”
The Gift Wrap Booth is open now through December 24. Hours are based on the Empire Mall holiday hours, which are Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Hours are subject to change based on weather.
