Join the Fold: A Community Art Project
The origami swan is our symbol of transformation and hope. We invite you to Join the Fold! Create an origami swan or crane and send it to Children’s Home Society so it can be displayed as part of our Community Art Projects.
Our first installation was in the Daugaard Dining Hall on the Sioux Falls Children’s Home campus. Almost 3,000 birds were hung from the ceiling inside the dining hall. Our second installation is located in the Administration Building on the Sioux Falls campus, where a display case is filled with swans and cranes. Additional installations are planned for Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety and our new Rapid City campus.

Making your swan
- Use square origami paper that is 4” x 4”, 6” x 6” or 10” x 10”.
- On the paper, you may write a message of hope to the people we serve.
- Mail your folded swan to the address below.
We’ll add your swan to the community art project! Over the coming months, people all over South Dakota will fold origami swans for Children’s Home Society.
