Employee of the Month HR News

Congratulations to the following winners for Employee of the Month!

Sioux Falls Children’s Home campus:

Michelle Banghart: A child was on Grounding and had not had a good day prior. When Michelle came in for wakeup I advised her and asked if she could one-on-one with this child and help them get through the wakeup without incident. Michelle readily agreed and patiently nurtured the child through an awesome wakeup routine. Win-win for all involved
~ Nominated by Dave Helseth

Daren Jessip: On Friday, January 14th, there was an incident at Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety that needed immediate attention. Daren dropped what he was doing, postponed his lunch, and made several trips between Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety and Children's Home for supplies, all while it was snowing and possibly bad road conditions. Daren got Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety back up and running almost like nothing ever happened. He is the definition of a Children's Home Superstar!
~ Nominated by Jade Roozenboom

Samuel Uwizeyimana : Sam is just an amazing individual to work with. When observing Sam work with the kids, it is obvious that he cares about them and wants them to do the best that they can and be the best person they can be. He is constantly going out of his way to make sure that his group has the best day that he can provide. Whether it is the activities he plans or making sure bedrooms are set up for the night, Sam goes out of his way to get it right. Even in the toughest of situations, Sam has a ready smile and a how can I help you attitude. I have been and continue to be grateful to have Sam on my team!!! Keep up the great work and thanks for all that you do!!!
~ Nominated by Jesse Groenweg
Black Hills Children’s Home campus:

Jace Jackson: Jace always comes to work ready to have fun! He has great relationships with quite a few of the kids and works hard to maintain them. Even after a rough shift, he comes back in with a can-do attitude and a smile on his face. I truly appreciate his hard work, drive, willingness to jump in and his ability to be flexible and "go with the flow."
~ Nominated by Monica Anderson

Lindsay HarrisLindsay is hands down the definition of the CHS core values. During the month of December, while I was experiencing significant loss, Lindsay took on all the extra work from my caseload and did it gracefully. Not once did I hear her complain or express frustration. And even though she had her own case load to cover she ensured that the families that I work with also had their needs met. She even went the extra mile to support me during this time and helped me prepare a couple of things for my mom's memorial service. I just cannot thank her enough!

~ Nominated by Sarah Crawford

Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety:

Mel Boehrns: Mel B came in for her 4-hour BB shift and after realizing that we were short a couple of staff members on top of having a very busy day with crisis calls and drop ins, offered to stay to help. Not only did she serve lunch and clean up around shelter, but she even did her first drop in/intake! Way to go Mel you worked tenaciously and proved how much better we are together!
