Pet Name: Oakley

Pet Owner: Sarah Crager, Team Coordinator, Van Demark Upstairs

Short Bio: My two absolute favorite dog breeds are Beagles and Black Labs! One of our friends called us and said his Beagle and Black Lab were having puppies! I immediately claimed one of them. After the puppies were born, we went and picked the one we wanted but unfortunately that one was the “runt” of the puppies and died. We went back and picked the chunkiest, floppy-eared one…OAKLEY!

Age: Oakley was born March 1, 2021.

Breed: Oakley’s dad is a purebred Black Lab and Oakley’s mom is a purebred Beagle. Oakley is a Beagador!

Favorite Food: We do have a cat as well and Oakley seems to only want to eat the cat food, even though he has dog food right next to it. Other than that, he loves peanut butter, sausage, and really anything he can get his paws on.

Favorite nap spot: Wherever I am, right at my feet.

Favorite Toy: His Kong toy filled with peanut butter, rawhide.

Favorite Activity: I started taking Oakley out running with me each day ever since he was super little. Now if we don’t get a run in, he will wait by the door next to his leash and stare at me.

Naughtiest Habit: Sneaking food off the table and counters when we aren’t looking!

Biggest Pet Peeve: Oakley’s biggest pet peeve is our cat, Arlo. My biggest pet peeve with Oakley is wrestling him to bathe!

Funniest Memory: Oakley and I were out on a run together and he suddenly went into super sport mode and lunged at a live bird, almost jerking me to the ground. He caught it! I was screaming at him to drop it. He almost always listens when we tell him to drop something—but he didn’t drop it. Feathers and blood were coming out of his mouth and he looked super proud of himself. It wasn’t funny to me at the time, but it kind of is now!
