Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s here! It’s here! Take that turkey out of the freezer because Thanksgiving week is finally here! With all the hustle and bustle this week brings, we hope you can take a moment–even if it’s when you are sitting down to eat your turkey dinner–to reflect on the things that matter the most.

Here at CHS, we are most thankful for you, our amazing employees! The hard work, dedication and can-do spirit that you all bring to CHS daily is not only contagious but inspirational.

We wish you all a spectacular holiday filled with good vibes, loved ones and delicious food! Happy Thanksgiving, CHS!

Jolly Lane Sold!

Amazing news was shared at the latest All Hands meeting! CAO Mark Niemeyer announced that the Jolly Lane campus is officially off the market. The goal is to have everyone moved out of Jolly Lane and into the new Rapid City campus by January 1, 2025.

The CHS Board will convene on January 30, to vote on the approval of the construction budget and operations at Jolly Lane will cease on January 31.

Initially, all departments will be in a temporary spot due to construction. Click here to review the building plans and see where
each department will be temporarily located.

Sue Andrews Retires

After 46 years of hard work, exceptional service and dedication to the mission of CHS, Clinical Unit Supervisor Sue Andrews is retiring.

“Every day that I have been allowed to be with CHS has left me with enormous pride for being included in the mission to help and heal children and their families.”

She first started her journey with Black Hills Children’s Home back in 1979. After a bewildering first day, Sue wondered if she’d made the right decision. All day she had been thrown into situations with no training or assistance. “This was what I wanted to do but after the first couple of hours, I was thinking, ‘Oh my, what have I done here?’” she laughed.

Sue came back the next day and continued to return for the next 16,000+ days. And this coming Wednesday, November 27, will be her last day at CHS.

“I have learned and grown beyond words..." Continue Reading

HR on the Move!

Exciting things are happening in the HR department! Starting December 2, CHRO Allison Sanderson will be relocating her office to the Van Demark building on the SFCH campus. HR Representative Ross Leonhardt is also moving. He will keep his spot at Shelter, but he will also have an office on the SFCH campus.

These changes come in an effort to better serve all CHS employees and offer HR representation to everyone. Read Allison’s letter here.

On the Rise

We know CHS is filled with stellar employees, so let’s take a moment to celebrate some amazing achievements.

  • Congratulations to DJ Toczek on his promotion as HR Coordinator. He will now be in charge of the day to day HR operations. Awesome job, DJ!
  • Tiffany Facile accepted new responsibilities in October. She is still in the finance department but is now working closely with HR. Her new title is Payroll and Benefits Coordinator. Way to go, Tiffany!
  • Congratulations to Kate Feilmeier on her promotion as Director of CHSFS. Deanna Larson says, “Kate brings a wealth of experience, perspective, and skill to this role.” Great job, Kate!
