CHS Awarded a Work Well Grant

The TIO Committee is excited to share that CHS has received a Work Well Grant. This new grant has multiple components:

• Mental Wellness and Stress Management Tools will be distributed to staff.

• $50 Wellness Incentive Gift Cards will be given to two staff members, one in the Black Hills and one in Sioux Falls, through a randomized drawing each month January–May. The gift card is good for a Painting or Spa class, chosen by the winner.

• Youth Mental Health First Aid will be offered in May

• The Crucial But Often Missed Conversation: Supporting Grief, a one-hour training by CoreWell 365 on Thursday, April 4, at 1 pm CT/12 pm MT.

Why do Loving and Owen school not follow the same traditional public school year holiday schedule (i.e., President’s Day, Native American Day, spring break, etc.)? Wouldn’t following the same (or similar) holiday schedules contribute to a much smoother transition when students discharge from CHS?

Thanks for your question; other employees have also wondered about this policy. As a private organization, CHS operates on its own calendar, which may or may not align with recognized holidays in a public school district—which vary from one district to another.
