Golden Birthday Give Back

Birthdays are a time for celebration, cake, ice cream and presents! But for one little girl, giving gifts was more important than receiving them. Meet Sioux Falls donor Eleanor Shatto. This past December, she celebrated her seventh birthday on December 7—making it her golden birthday. Now, for most seven-year-olds, a birthday party means friends, cake, balloons and gifts. This year, instead of keeping her presents, Eleanor decided to have a golden birthday give back party and donate all her toys to an organization of her choice. Read more.

BHCH Goes Polar!

While many of us are bundling up in extra layers and trying to stay warm, 12 CHS employees have volunteered to embrace the frosty temperatures and brave glacial waters by taking the plunge—the Polar Plunge! That’s right folks, BHCH has a team entered in the Rapid City Polar Plunge supporting the Special Olympics of South Dakota. All proceeds go to Special Olympics and support more than 2,750 athletes across the state. Click here for more.

CHSFS Awarded Grant from Mary Kay Ash Foundation

We are excited to share that Shelter for Family Safety has been awarded $20,000 from the Mary Kay Ash Foundation (MKAF)!

Since 1996, MKAF has been raising funds for women’s shelters and organizations geared towards ending domestic violence and women’srelated cancers. They have donated to organizations globally, but since their beginning, they have contributed more than $96 million throughout the U.S.
