Pet of the Month: Gus

Gillian Spiva, an Art Teacher at Owen School, and her fiancé recently adopted their first furry friend, a 13-week-old sheepadoodle named August, or “Gus” for short.

She says, “Sheepadoodles make great therapy dogs because of their kind personality and calming fur texture.”

Gillian can’t wait until Gus is potty trained so she can bring him in to meet the kiddos. In the meantime, here are some fun facts about Gus.

Pet Name: August “Gus”

Pet Owner & CHS Position: Gillian Spiva is an Art Teacher at Owen School.

Short bio/adoption story: Someone I know recently got a sheepadoodle puppy and I thought it was the cutest thing ever! I started researching puppies in the area and was driving to North Dakota to pick up Gus a week later.

Age: 14 weeks or 3.5 months

Breed: Sheepadoodle (25% English sheep dog and 75% standard poodle)

Favorite food: Dehydrated liver. So far, we are holding strong on no people food.

Favorite nap spot: His cute dog bed or on the couch with the cats.

Favorite toy: He has a long crackly fox.

Favorite activity: He loves playing chase outside.

Naughtiest habit: Trying to play with the cats. Thankfully, they can hold their own.

Biggest pet peeve: Us being in another room and staring at him.

Funniest memory with your pet: He struggles going up and down the stairs and he looks like a baby horse when he tries.
