Pet Name: Estes
Pet Owner & CHS Position: Gillian Spiva, Black Hills Art Teacher
Short bio/adoption story: Two summers ago, my partner Dakota and I attended my cousin’s wedding in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado. On our way home from our trip we were driving through curvy mountain roads. As we turned the next bend, we thought we saw roadkill, a bird, possibly a baby mountain lion? But it was a kitten! We quickly turned around. Flipping a U-ey was scary, as you can imagine. We managed it and I got out of the car quickly and was able to pick up the kitten and take him with us. We were so lucky that he wasn’t hurt and that he slept through our six-hour car ride home. Now he’s my best friend in the world and named after Estes Park where he was found.
Age: 1.5 years old
Breed: Snowshoe
Favorite food: Anything… he even licks the windows sometimes.
Favorite nap spot: On the couch or in his cat ball
Favorite toy: String
Favorite activity: Eating or chirping at the birds.
Naughtiest habit: He loves to paw out all the socks from my sock drawer.
Biggest pet peeve: A food bowl you can see the bottom of.
Funniest memory with your pet: He had a felt cat ball that our cats would go inside of to sleep or run through when playing. He has started squishing it down into a half ball/taco shape every time we open it back up! Super funny and when he lays in it, he looks like a taco.
What are some of your pet’s nicknames? Taco Boy, Estes Julio Ricardo de la Rosa Ramirez, Chicken Nugget, Buddy, Handsome Boy.
