Open Enrollment Q&A

Open Enrollment is right around the corner – October 23 through November 1! This is your time to add, cancel or change the benefits that you want for 2025. There are a few changes this year, the major one being that this year we have Active Open Enrollment. This means all employees NEED to login to Paylocity and select their benefits by Friday, November 1. If you have questions regarding this year’s Open Enrollment, check out the Q&A below for more information.

When is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment will begin October 23, 2024 and will go through November 1, 2024.

What is an Active Open Enrollment?

An Active Open Enrollment means that you NEED to log into Paylocity and select your benefits. Your benefits from 2024 WILL NOT roll over into 2025. You must login to Paylocity and complete your benefit elections by on November 1. If you don’t, you will lose all benefits for 2025.

What’s changing and why?

Your benefits are an important part of your total compensation here at CHS. Our employees do GOOD work, and we want to be able to offer benefit plans that are GOOD for you and your family. Below you will see the changes that are happening in 2025 for each benefit category. It’s important to remember that even though we will see premiums increase for 2025, CHS will absorb most of those increases.

Medical: CHS offers two medical plans you can pick from. Even though our medical premiums will increase for 2025, CHS will absorb most of the cost. Depending on the coverage you elect, CHS pays as much as 87% of the medical plan premium.

Vision: CHS offers one vision plan through Eyemed. Based on employee feedback, we wanted to offer a more appealing vision plan. Starting January 1, 2025, the vision plan will allow you to get lenses or contacts every 12 months. The frame and contact allowance will increase from $130 to $150.

Previously, if you enrolled in a medical plan, vision was included. If you were not enrolled in a medical plan, employees were able to enroll in a standalone vision plan. CHS wants to make sure that all employees have equal access to the vision plan. In 2025 the vision plan will no longer be tied to the medical plan. All employees will need to elect vision coverage if you want to be enrolled. Although this change will be an increase to some, over 25% of the vision plan premium will be paid by CHS.

Dental: CHS offers you one dental plan through Delta Dental of South Dakota DPPO. This plan offers you the freedom and flexibility to use the dentist of your choice. However, you will maximize your benefits and reduce your out-of-pocket costs if you choose a dentist who participates in the Delta Dental of South Dakota network. The dental plan premiums will increase slightly.

What is the Difference between the two Medical Plans?

  1. Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) HSA
    • This plan gives you the freedom to seek care from the provider of your choice.
    • Comes with a Health Savings Account (HSA) that allows you to save pre-tax money to pay for any qualified health care expenses.
      • CHS will contribute $600 annually to your HSA if you enroll in employee-only coverage or $1,200 annually for if you enroll yourself and one or more family members.
      • HSA money is yours for life. There is no “use it or lose it” rule. The money is yours to save or spend, regardless of whether you change health plans, retire, or leave the company.

  1. Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO
    • This plan pays for the full cost of qualified in-network preventative health services.
    • You pay the full cost of non-preventative health care services until you meet the deductible. You may also have to pay a copay for certain services.
    • Once you meet the deductible, you pay a percentage of certain health care expenses.
    • The plan pays the full cost of all qualified health care services once your deductible, copays, and coinsurance add up to the out-of-pocket maximum.

What do I need to do to complete my benefit selection?

Everyone will be able to elect their benefits through Paylocity Benefits Enhanced. All you need to do is:
Log into your account.

  • Scroll down to Benefits on your self service screen.
  • Click “Manage my Benefits.”
  • From there you will see a box that states “start my enrollment.” Employees can make changes, add, or cancel benefits.
  • When you’re done making your elections, click “Submit.”

Will I be able to see my current benefit elections?

Yes! Simply click “Manage my Benefits” in Paylocity, you can review your current coverage. You can use this information to help you decide, add, change or cancel any benefits. Just be sure to click “Submit” after you make your changes. You will also need to click “Submit” even if you do not make any changes to your current benefits.

Can I change after Nov. 1?

Unfortunately, due to IRS regulations, you cannot change your benefits after November 1, unless you have a qualifying life event. Below are examples of qualifying life events. Employees have 30 days to make changes to benefits from when the qualifying event occurs.

  • Marriage or divorce
  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Child reaching the maximum age limit
  • Death of a spouse or child
  • You lose coverage under your spouse’s plan
  • You gain access to state coverage under Medicaid or CHIP

What if I don’t do anything?

Because we are in an Active Open Enrollment, you NEED to complete and submit your benefits through Paylocity by time on November 1. If you don’t, you will not have medical, dental, or vision coverage on January 1, 2025.

What should I do if I have questions - will there be Open Enrollment meetings again this year?

Yes! Please join representatives from Hub International and Human Resources for an Open Enrollment meeting highlighting this year’s benefit options. We will review the Benefit Guide and the Summary of Benefits and Coverage and answer any questions you may have. Meeting dates and times are:

  • Rockerville: October 23, 2024, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Rapid City Campus: October 24, 2024, at 2 p.m.
