Rockerville Campus Sold!

You’ve probably heard that our Rockerville campus has been sold, but what you might not know is who the buyer is—or the amazing way this purchase will support CHS. Dr. Cleve Trimble is the property’s new owner. He is allowing us to continue leasing the campus until our new Rapid City campus is ready—hopefully by this time next year! Even more incredible, he’s generously donating all of the lease payments back to CHS.

Dr. Trimble, a retired surgeon and Navy veteran, grew up in Nebraska and has had a fascinating career, from developing trauma systems and emergency medicine programs to turning farmland into world-class golf courses. Today, he lives in Custer and continues to enjoy the beautiful Black Hills.

His connection to CHS came through longtime friend and former CHS Board Member Phil Lampert.

“Phil asked me to look at the property,” Dr. Trimble explained. “I realized right away that I couldn’t turn it into a golf course, but I liked what I saw of the campus and wanted to help in any way I could during the transition to Rapid City.”

Dr. Trimble was drawn to the campus for more than just its natural beauty and rustic architecture, but currently, he has no immediate plans for the property.

“I liked the land, I liked the buildings, but what really motivated me was the chance to support CHS and help make the transition as smooth as possible,” he said. “My immediate plan is to stay out of the way and let the staff do what they do best.”

Thanks to Dr. Trimble’s generosity, we can continue operating on the Rockerville campus without interruption while we prepare for our move to Rapid City. His support lets us keep our focus on the children and families we serve. It’s also a wonderful reminder of the community of people who believe in CHS and our mission.
