Sioux Falls campus staff celebrated longtime CHS employee Muriel Nelson on December 2, which was her last day.

CEO Michelle Lavallee presented Muriel with a Mother Sherrard print. Muriel also received a “Life Book,” comprised of photos, heartfelt notes, and well wishes from staff.

“I have loved my years at Children’s Home Society with all my heart,” Muriel says. “Those of us who work at CHS are so lucky to be a part of the great legacy that has been passed down by those who came before us. That also comes with a huge responsibility to do our absolute best for those we serve.”

“It has been an honor and privilege to work beside such dedicated people who are all focused on that goal. I’m grateful for every experience and every memory that I take with me,” she says.

Muriel’s 25 years with CHS included serving in a wide variety of roles:

• 1995 Development Associate

• 1997 Therapeutic Foster Care Specialist

• 1999 Family Development Specialist, PRIDE

• 2005 Forensic Interviewer, Child’s Voice

• 2007 Marketing Director

• 2009 Operations Director, Community Based Services

• 2015 Chief Operating Officer

Fortunately for those we serve, Muriel has taken a position with the state with oversight for evaluating and licensing mental health and drug/alcohol programs such as CHS. We look forward to working with her in this new capacity and wish her the very best!
