ASK THE CEO

You Asked. We Answer.

A new question was submitted to Ask The CEO.

Parents are paying about $11,400 per year per child for childcare. In order for childcare to be “affordable,” a family would have to make more than $163,000 annually for one child. That’s nearly two-and-a-half times the median household income in Sioux Falls.

Most parents—as many as 9 in 10—in Sioux Falls cannot afford childcare. Based on federal definitions of affordability, childcare should take no more than 7% of annual household income. Would there ever be a point that CHS would help pay for childcare for its employees?

Read the answer on the GW portal.

Two All Staff Announcements From Finance

Effective July 1: Meal Price Adjustment

To comply with federal regulations, effective July 1, 2023, CHS is adjusting the price of meals. The cost of a meal, whether it is a daily feature, or the salad bar (if available) will be $5.25. Read more here.

Restricted Funds Process Streamlined

Here’s great news from the Finance Department: CHS is streamlining and simplifying the process for using restricted funds. If you are filling out vouchers or expense records, you no longer need to indicate where the funding is coming from. Identifying the item will be sufficient. Read more here.
