A new question to Ask The CEO was submitted on the GOOD WORKS portal:

Children were informed that we would be getting a splash pad on campus and a new playground this summer. When are these being built and where would the splash pad be located? Children are having been asking about this a lot recently.

Thank you for the question regarding improvements to the playground area. Getting kids out and about is an important part of their lives, especially during our wonderful summer and autumn months.

Let me first address the current playground. We are in the process of replacing the playground equipment near Madsen. The new equipment has been ordered and we expect it to arrive in the next few weeks. Installation will take some time and we are looking at having everything ready for the kids by fall.

There has been discussion of adding a “splashpad,” but that project has not yet been approved. In fact, we are still trying to determine if it would even be feasible given the cost and the complexities associated with that kind of project. We are learning that a “splashpad” is essentially the same as adding a pool with all the requirements, maintenance and costs.

While we all look forward to new things for the kids, I would ask that we refrain from discussing any potential projects until we are sure we can move forward with the initiative. We certainly don’t want to disappoint the kiddos.
