We are excited to share that Shelter for Family Safety has been awarded $20,000 from the Mary Kay Ash Foundation (MKAF)!

Since 1996, MKAF has been raising funds for women’s shelters and organizations geared towards ending domestic violence and women’s-related cancers. They have donated to organizations globally, but since their beginning, they have contributed more than $96 million throughout the U.S.

This isn’t the first time Shelter for Family Safety has been granted this award. We were also recipients in 2015, and 2022 and can now add 2024 to the list.

“Receiving the grant three times—and twice within eligible years—speaks volumes to the work accomplished at the Shelter,” said Grant Specialist Angie Smith.

Angie shared that the grant received in 2022 came at a time when Shelter for Family Safety was bursting at the seams. “Despite the challenges, staff made every effort to ensure that all clients in need of safe shelter received just that.”

Angie explained that this year's award also came at a critical time as the Shelter has been serving a record number of clients.

“I’m extremely happy for the Shelter for Family Safety staff and especially the clients we serve,” said Angie.
