General News
Families celebrate together, laugh and cry together, and care for one another. For many of us, the CHS Family is an extension of our own. Here are a few pages from our own CHS Scrapbook.
New Babies (of all kinds)!
Meet Paisley Quinn Knoll, born at 1:37 am December 23, at 7 lbs., 10 oz. and 21.5 inches long. Her mother is Kara Knoll, part-time Brave Beginnings Youth Care Assistant at Children’s Inn.
Chief Financial Officer, Joe Herdina, became the grandpa of twin boys on Saturday, January 23. Charles Theodore (left) weighed in at 5 lbs. 8 oz. and his "big" brother, Benjamin Edward, weighed 5 lbs. 14 oz. Congratulations, Grandpa Joe!
Congratulations to Loni Anderson, Administrative Assistant at Community Based Services in the Black Hills on the birth of her first grandson! Graham William Barse was born February 15, 2021, weighing in at 8 lb., 10 oz.
The family of Kathy Schneider, Bright Start Nurse Supervisor, has a new addition. Meet Harley, who is six months old and was recently adopted from All City Cat Rescue. Harley loves catnip, being brushed and enjoys long naps on his cat tower in the window. He is quite “vocal,” lovable and has adapted well to Bentley, the family’s eight-year-old miniature dachshund.
Congratulations, Blake Bennett!
On February 17, Blake Bennett, Team Coordinator at Sioux Falls Children’s Home, received the 2021 Helen E. (Oppold) Blair Memorial Award from the Sioux Empire United Way.
This prestigious award is given annually to “an individual whose work in human services, law enforcement, education or church-based fields towards child abuse prevention and early intervention is exemplary.”
United Way Board Chair Marie Fredrickson presented the award at the unit’s staff meeting.
The nomination noted that, “Blake goes above and beyond for his staff and the children on his unit. He makes work a fun and inviting place despite the stressors that come along with the job. He is always there to lend a helping hand and is a great role model to the boys on his unit.”
Great job, Blake!
