The TIO Committee is excited to share that CHS has received a Work Well Grant. This new grant has multiple components:

• Mental Wellness and Stress Management Tools will be distributed to staff.
• $50 Wellness Incentive Gift Cards will be given to two staff members, one in the Black Hills and one in Sioux Falls, through a randomized drawing each month January through May. The gift card is good for a spa or a painting class, chosen by the winner.

• Youth Mental Health First Aid – will be offered in May.
• The Crucial but Often Missed Conversation: Supporting Grief, a one-hour training by CoreWell 365 on Thursday, April 4, at 1 pm CT/12 pm MT.

Both the Mental Health First Aid and Supporting Grief offerings are voluntary. If you would like to attend, please speak with your supervisor.

Youth Mental Health First Aid
This course teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth. This 6.5-hour training gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6–18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. This will be a Blended Learning. After completing a two-hour, self-paced online class, First Aiders will participate in a four-hour, in-person, instructor-led class.

The Crucial but Often Missed Conversation: Supporting Grief
In this presentation, we look at the challenge of knowing how to respond to grief and to understand the truth about grief that goes beyond what we always thought. It gives us real life scenarios to help to support ourselves and others through grief and loss. The presentation gives individuals the tools and the skills to be confident.
