This year in the United States, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. A diagnosis like this can be scary, overwhelming and heartbreaking—but there is always hope.
Thanks to advances in early detection and treatment, breast cancer is far more treatable today than it was in the past. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, when caught early, the survival rate has increased to an incredible 99%. Today, more than four million breast cancer survivors are living in the United States—a powerful reminder of the difference screenings can make.
For nearly four decades, the country has recognized October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, honor survivors and emphasize the importance of regular checkups.
At CHS, we care deeply about your health and well-being. That’s why we urge you to:
- Perform regular self-exams
- Stay up to date on annual checkups
- Follow screening recommendations based on your age and risk factors
Early detection is key. Please, take the time to get checked—and encourage those you love to do the same. Let’s stand together, raise awareness and continue fighting to kick cancer to the curb.
