“This painting isn’t just a piece of art. It is a window into the inner world of young people who have overcome so much,” said SFCH Loving School Art Teacher Rylee Lehmkuhl.

The positive reception of student artwork at last year’s Caring For The Kids prompted the Foundation to introduce an annual collector’s piece called Children’s Heartwork.

The 2025 Children’s Heartwork piece is a group painting created by middle school students at Loving School. Over the course of four weeks, Rylee worked with the children to explore their personal interpretations of the concept of hope.

“For many of our students, being seen and heard in this way is a rare and deeply healing experience. This painting shows what they wish or hope for the world to be like,” said Rylee.
