This past week’s freezing temperatures left us all shivering, but Shelter for Family Safety is filled with warmth and love. Several of our friends at Schulte Subaru stopped by last week to drop off 120 brand new coats for children in our care.

Through the Subaru Loves to Help initiative, Schulte Subaru has partnered with Operation Warm to provide new coats, socks and shoes to children in need between the ages of three and 13. Typically, children who receive coats may attend a school where 40% or more of the students’ families are at or below the federal poverty line. Children can also be identified through a human services agency or by living in a shelter.

Along with the new coats, Schulte Subaru also gifted this message board and motivational stickers for the kids. Staff wrote messages like, “I am kind,” “I am brave” and “I am loved.”

After all the new coats were brought into the building—and everyone had a chance to warm up—Schulte Subaru staff were invited to take a campus tour and learn more about the important services we provide our Shelter guests.

After everyone had a chance to warm up, Development Coordinator Staci Kropuenske led the Schulte Subaru staff on a campus tour and talked about the important services we provide our Shelter clients.
