Dear Team Members,

We are delighted to announce that Jon Mammenga will join CHS as Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) beginning July 25, 2022.

Jon will be CHS’s first CPO. The position was created as part of Development Director Rick Weber’s succession plan. This enables Rick to transition into a role that embodies his gifts as a trusted advocate and fundraiser for the Children’s Home Foundation as a Major Gifts Officer.

Working with Sagency, we conducted a nationwide search for the CPO position.

Jon’s experience, network and knowledge of South Dakota are unparalleled.

We believe he brings to the table exactly the balance we were seeking—a seasoned philanthropy professional with a heart for our mission, excellent strategic thinking and in-depth knowledge of progressive fundraising practices.

Most recently, Jon was associate vice president for development at Augustana University. Prior to that, he held a variety of positions at the University of South Dakota Foundation for six years. He is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and earned a Certificate in Fundraising Management from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Jon graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Jon lives in Sioux Falls with his wife and two children. We hope you will join us in welcoming Jon and his family to Children’s Home Society!

Sincerely,

Michelle Lavallee
