Congratulations to the following winners for Employee of the Month!
Sioux Falls Children’s Home campus:
Jamie VanVoorst: Jamie is constantly surprising me with the tricks she has up her sleeves. She holds kids accountable and is firm while still being kind. She is always willing to help the unit and willing to step out of her office and help out. She does great with de-escalation and is fun to watch and learn from! We appreciate her greatly!
~ Nominated by Gabby Larson
Karissa DeWeerd: Karissa does a great job of checking in daily on how her students are doing in school each day. She is professional in her interactions between both students and staff. Karissa ensures the communication is consistent and flowing between student, parents, therapist, and school. I appreciate Karissa's positive outlook and attitude and know I can always turn to her for motivation and encouragement
~ Nominated by Kayla Siemonsma
Karissa, thanks for agreeing to see a couple of my kids so I could take vacation time! I appreciate your willingness to help!
~ Nominated by Dawn Endsley
Taylor Thompson: Taylor continues to work hard at what she does and it never goes unnoticed! She is juggling responsibilities between work, grad school, and her internship. She continues to build solid relationship with the kids and always puts in her best. She does wonders with the kids when de-escalating by getting on their levels, sees the issues at hand through their perspective and does great in problem-solving. She is reasonable in her approaches, sets healthy lines, and just has that natural nurturing approach! I greatly appreciate working with her to build our skills here at CHS to offer the most we can for the children we serve! I appreciate you, Taylor and always will!
~ Nominated by Aaron Vaul
Black Hills Children’s Home campus:
No nominations from BHCH this month. Be sure to nominate your team member next month!
Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety:
Lori Bell:
Lori joined with her fellow night staff and really stepped up and took on extra cleaning and laundry tasks when we were without a facilities staff for a couple months. Lori checked and cleaned a dozen bathrooms each night and washed, folded, and put away more laundry than she cared to count, all in addition to her regular nightly tasks. Thank you, Lori, for taking one for the team and remembering we are all better together.
