Demolition is Underway

Sledgehammers are swinging and construction crews are hard at work as demolition officially begins on the Rapid City Campus. Area D—the new home of the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and CAC—is transforming daily, and crews have made impressive progress so far. While we are excited about the fast-moving updates, the safety of our clients, staff and visitors remains our top priority. If you are on campus, please follow all site safety requirements, avoid construction zones and stay within approved CHS work areas.

Crews have been busy in Area D, removing all carpeting, flooring, a few walls and some ceiling tiles!

We’ve made great progress on mechanical, electrical and plumbing demolition. Crews are removing corridor walls and cutting and removing concrete to prepare for the new sewer pipe installation.

We received the first shipment of conference room furniture, matching the furniture in A Room with a View on the SFCH campus.

Crews continue steady progress on the all-site bathroom and locker room.

We collected nearly 80 doors from Area D, all of which we will save and reuse during the remodel to help reduce construction costs.

Crews are almost finished removing acoustic ceiling tiles throughout Area D.
