Christmas in July
Merry Chris…wait Christmas? In July? Absolutely!
Shelter for Family Safety found the perfect way to cool off during the summer heat by throwing a Christmas in July celebration. Staff kicked off the festivities with an iced coffee and Italian soda bar.
Our favorite elves, Elvis and Evelyn, returned in full jingle bell spirit and even brought some new friends. The week concluded with a sandcastle decorating contest and a raffle for some summer-themed baskets.
JTF at Storybook Island
On July 26, VP of Development Kara Flynn, Events and Volunteer Specialist Abby Sharp, Volunteer Maya Khachikian, and Director of Development Heather Hoeye brought origami magic to Storybook Island’s Family Fun Day.
The team invited children, families, princesses and Wonder Woman to join the fold and had a blast doing it.
Development Director Heather Hoeye recently attended a fundraiser organized by Children’s Home Foundation Board Member and past president Diana Dufur-Day. Hobo’s Healing Heart, a nonprofit dedicated to helping pet owners facing financial hardship, works to prevent owners from having to surrender or euthanize their pets due to cost of emergency veterinary services.
The “Don’t Get Lost” fundraiser, a .5K walk held at a local Rapid City brewery, gave Heather the chance to walk, and meet friendly people and their adorable pups.
Congratulations to SFCH Madsen Up Therapist Haley Groeneweg and her husband, Kaleb, on the birth of their beautiful baby boy. Finn Michael Groeneweg arrived on Tuesday, July 22, weighing 8 lbs., 6 oz. and measuring 22” long. Welcome to the world, Baby Finn, and congratulations to the Groeneweg family!
If you swayed to the blues at last Thursday’s Levitt at the Falls concert, you may have seen a few familiar faces under a blue tent. Marketing and Communications Director Janet Andersen, Volunteer/ Development Coordinator Faron Lais and Communications Specialist Krystal Schoenbauer had a blast encouraging concertgoers to Join the Fold! People of all ages enjoyed the music while folding origami swans for our community art project.
If you missed this concert, CHS will host another folding event at the Levitt on Thursday, August 14.
