August 18 All Hands Update
The party’s over, the snacks are gone, and the dunk tank is drained, but these pictures will keep us smiling for years!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s All Hands Summer Fun events! We hope you had a chance to catch up with coworkers, make new friends, enjoy great food, play a few games and share a few laughs. Scroll below to see all the fun we had at Shelter and the SFCH campus.
This year’s shirts were a major hit! If you ordered a t-shirt and now want a long sleeve—or vice versa—you’re in luck! Find the entire line of “hope” apparel in the online store. Be sure to check the “New Items” dropdown menu to find both shirts—and additional designs—available for purchase. Happy shopping!
Staff kicked off their morning at Shelter by hanging out with executives and enjoying a delicious breakfast.
Because no day truly begins without coffee, staff took turns playing barista and creating their perfect cup of joe at the coffee bar.
With the gorgeous weather last Wednesday, staff headed outside for some friendly competition. Connect-4 and Cornhole took over part of the parking lot, offering some fun, intense games.
For those who preferred something more low-key, HR set up a puzzle station where staff could get creative and color wooden puzzle pieces.
Check out this awesome 3-D crane that Crisis Advocate Katie Underberg found. It’s giving major Join the Fold vibes!
Facilities Worker Patrick Miller brought along his adorable sidekick, Terran, who quickly became the Summer Fun event’s star.

The overnight crew at SFCH stopped by the Daugaard Dining Hall to enjoy a well-deserved breakfast filled with sweet and savory treats.
During breakfast, staff also grabbed their brand-new “Hope” shirts!
COO Allison Sanderson, Unit Coordinator Aunnie VandeGriend and CFO Shannon Clark eagerly welcomed staff to the dining hall with big smiles and cheerful greetings.
Our wonderful Wednesday crew enjoyed some tasty treats, shared some laughs and wrapped up their shifts in the best way possible—being together.
Our terrific Thursday crew joined CHS executives and HR for a scrumptious breakfast and cheerful conversations before heading home.
CAO Mark Niemeyer and Food Service Coordinator Lisa Wylie posed for a quick picture before the overnight crew arrived.
Picnic
The Executive team and HR served up a classic picnic meal of hot dogs and hamburgers, catered by Hy-Vee.
The dunk tank was a highlight of the day for many. Kids had a blast dunking RYCs, Educators, Therapists and Unit Directors—many of whom took the plunge more than once! A big thank you to our brave dunk tank volunteers: Team Coordinator Blake Bennett, Clinical Unit Supervisor Dawn Endsley, RYC Alex Vande Griend, RYC II Zach Valen, Director of Schools Mike Groher, Assistant Director of Schools Ericka Bohle, Administrative Assistant Desiree Wolfe, Therapist Aaron Vaul and VP of HR Heather Powell!
Shoutout to Team Coordinator Blake Bennett and Clinical Unit Supervisor Dawn Endsley for stepping up! By the end of the picnic, Blake alone had been dunked nearly 15-20 times, making sure every kid had their shot.
We aren’t sure who had more fun watching Dawn and Blake get dunked, the kids or the Madsen RYCs!
Our fabulous T-shirt team—Brand Strategist Clara Jacob, Volunteer Development Coordinator Faron Lais and Grant Specialist Angie Smith—kept everything organized so staff could easily grab their new “Hope” shirts.
Director of Events and Volunteer Management Erica Krohn and Assistant Development Director Andrew Hewitt ran the duck pond game, giving kids a classic carnival experience.
Therapist Brittny Mueller gave the duck pond team a chance to practice before the kids arrived!
Staff caught up with each other, shared a few laughs and soaked in the sunshine while enjoying their picnic lunch. Thank you, everyone, for putting the fun in the All Hands Summer Fun events!
All Hands Update
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Rockerville and the Rapid City campus for last week’s All Hands Summer Fun Events! We had a blast sharing a delicious meal, hanging out and playing yard games. Check out some great moments from last week’s celebration below.
BHCH and Owen School staff are up next! They will be meeting in front of Tully House this Wednesday, August 6.
Let the games begin! Staff brought their game faces and competed in yard games like Connect—4 and Giant Jenga.
Eddies Taco Truck delivered a festive feast for everyone to enjoy.
A dunk tank made a splash on campus! Staff lined up to dunk CHS leaders, including CFO Shannon Clark, HR Coordinator DJ Toczek and Unit Supervisors April Roselles and Stephen Feild.
The games continued with a giant tug-of-war! Staff split into two teams and pulled all the stops to prove their strength.
CAO Mark Neimeyer, Help Desk Technician Trent Strand and IT Director Austin Winter posed for a quick photo.
RYC’s Lexi Wright and Josie Neumiller soaked up the sunshine and summer vibes.
