One does not need to be a therapist to be therapeutic. Join us this month to learn about trauma, trauma-informed approaches, and how we can all be part of building self-healing communities.

Capabilities and belonging are interwoven in our lives, and they are affected by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). What helps a population with high ACEs scores to experience more health and well-being?

One way to help heal communities is for parents with a history of adversity to understand ACEs, experience healthy functioning and prevent ACEs in their children’s lives.

Communities also play a role in supporting parents. There is an increasing focus on the impact of trauma and adversity in childhood and how service systems and organizations may either help or exacerbate trauma-related issues. Many agencies and systems are beginning to revisit how they conduct their business or offer services under the framework of a trauma-informed, healing-centered approach.
