These free trainings are open to everyone via Zoom, with registration required. Participants must attend the first session in order to attend any of the other three sessions.

Child sexual abuse is “a silent epidemic,” according to the American Medical Association. It is so widespread that each of us probably knows someone who has been victimized or who has abused. The Enough Abuse series empowers parents, youth, professionals and other concerned adults to prevent people from victimizing children and youth today and to prevent children from developing abusive behaviors in the future.

In these sessions, you will:

  • Understand child abuse as a public health problem
  • Understand the nature and scope of child sexual abuse and exploitation
  • Recognize signs and conditions that support child sexual abuse
  • Recognize potential grooming behaviors in adults
  • Learn strategies for preventing child sexual abuse
  • Learn how to respond to disclosures and report child sexual abuse
  • Identify “developmentally expected” sexual behaviors of children and youth and recognize those that might be inappropriate, coercive, abusive or illegal
  • Respond to all sexual behaviors in ways that promote healthy development of children and that support bystanders who may be affected

Participants will also learn to Identify “yellow light” behaviors of children and teens that require correction and monitoring and “red light” behaviors that require referral or reporting to local child protection agencies.
