A New Norm is Children's Home Society's newest book written by Tom Roberts, illustrated by Jim Brummond, and published in partnership with Avera Health.
According to the National Institute of Health, up to one in four people are affected by mental illness, with many cases undiagnosed and untreated. The idea behind A New Norm is to effectively address mental wellness by promoting awareness, initiating conversation, and providing education to help identify and refer at-risk youth to professional mental health providers and other supportive resources.
The story is written to interest children age 7 to 14 and serves as a tool to foster meaningful conversation between families, youth groups, and classrooms.
