December Learning Series: Year End Wellness: Self-Care Strategies for the Holidays
Year End Wellness
The holidays are often a time of family gatherings, celebration, and joy. They can also bring up big emotions, discomfort, common triggers, and added responsibilities or obligations. Anticipating and preparing for common holiday stressors and prioritizing self-care can help to ensure that this holiday season is full of joy and gratitude – at work and at home!
We recognize that self-care is important for any professional who works with vulnerable children and/or adults, as well as for parents and even youth 14+. It’s especially important now, with many people experiencing burnout due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding vicarious trauma and reframing Self-Care through an ethical lens can help as we navigate through the holidays, especially when supporting those that have experienced victimization or trauma.
