Children’s Home Society Hosts Child Abuse Prevention Training During National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Posted on April 16, 2025
One out of three girls and one out of five boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18, according to Enough Abuse—a national campaign to end child sexual abuse. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Children’s Home Society (CHS) is committed to raising awareness and stopping all forms of abuse against our youth.

Abuse is often preventable, and communities nationwide are coming together to help end this crisis. CHS plays a vital role in prevention by hosting nearly 150 training events each year, many of those are related to child abuse prevention through Enough Abuse’s curriculum. These trainings help individuals better understand the signs of abuse and what they can do to help prevent it and protect children.
Jessica Broullire is the Education and Public Awareness Specialist at CHS. She explains that Enough Abuse trainings are beneficial to everyone—from a caregiver to a professional—and have consistently proven to be valuable and informative.
“At CHS, we believe in the importance of shared language across communities. The trainings we offer are accessible and inclusive,” said Broullire. “There have been multiple instances when people who attended a training have reached back out to us saying they were able to identify the signs of abuse and felt empowered to report and respond appropriately.”
This month’s training series focuses on recognizing signs of abuse, identifying grooming behaviors in adults, understanding that child abuse is a public health issue and learning how to respond to disclosures while keeping kids safe.
Along with the prevention and education trainings that CHS provides, child abuse awareness is also discussed in other CHS services such as Forensic Interviewing in the Child Advocacy Center and in Residential Treatment.
